Operation Dreadnaught Update

Hello,

I wanted to send a proper update on where things stand with Operation Dreadnaught, the audiobooks and the next stage of the writing.

There has been a lot happening in the background, so I’ve pulled the main points together here.

Full-page feature in Soldier Magazine

Operation Dreadnaught has now had a full-page feature in Soldier Magazine, the magazine of the British Army.

For me, this one matters.

I served in the British Army from 1987 to 2014, across regular and reserve service, with operational experience including Northern Ireland, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan.

That background has shaped the way I write. The series is military science fiction, but it is not written as clean adventure or polished fantasy warfare. It is built around pressure, command, fatigue, loyalty, fear, hard decisions and the cost of violence.

Ursus audiobook confirmed

I can confirm that the audiobook edition of Ursus, Book Two of Operation Dreadnaught, is moving forward.

Recording is due to begin in September, with Steve Fortune returning as narrator.

Steve narrated Major, and his work gave B Troop, Major and the world of Operation Dreadnaught a voice that suited the tone of the series: hard, grounded and character-led.

Book 4 is still being written

Work continues on Book 4 of Operation Dreadnaught.

I am not rushing it. The first three books have taken the series from the first mission in Major, through the North in Ursus, and into the human domain in Vulpes. Book 4 has to carry the weight of what has already happened and push the story forward properly.

The writing is ongoing, and the direction is clear.

Paused, not abandoned

A quick note on Nart, Bart and Flame.

That series has not been abandoned. It has been paused while Operation Dreadnaught takes priority.

It is a very different kind of story, with its own voice and humour. I want to return to it properly once Book 4 is complete.

Start with Major

For anyone new to the series, the best place to begin is still Major, Book One of Operation Dreadnaught.

Major is available in ebook, paperback, hardback and audiobook. It begins the war, introduces B Troop, and opens the world of Operation Dreadnaught.

Three books are now available: Major, Ursus and Vulpes.
